Wassa and Kuchingoro are Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) camps in the FCT, Nigeria, where GRID is working to provide access to information and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) often perpetrated by persons who bear the responsibilities of securing the camps, providing support services, and members of the host community – actions which contradict the principles upon which humanitarian action is based.
As part of our efforts to ensure the dignity, bodily autonomy and power of these women and girls, and to prevent further occurrences of SEAH in the camps through a victim/survivor-centered approach, we conducted a three-day training of the displaced women and girls to become paralegals in the camp, and also establish safe reporting Mechanisms.
